Thank you heroes!
One of the Willow Hill Riding Club's (WHRC) largest community events is Horses for Heroes, a FREE annual event provided for military members (active, retired, or veteran) and their families. Attendees enjoy horseback riding, a BBQ picnic, face painting, live music and other activities fun for all ages. Free trail rides throughout the beautiful countryside on well behaved, healthy horses, are available for anyone over the age of five while youngsters under five can participate in pony rides led by experienced horse handlers in our indoor or outdoor arena. While not on horseback, guests can relax and enjoy the summer day, play yard games, get their face painted and fill up on delicious food all while meeting new people and spending quality time with loved ones. It is our way of saying THANK YOU to all of our heroes out there!
Club members help promote the event to recruit military members and their families, secure in-kind donations like food, a bounce house and live music, and solicit sponsors to help cover the cost of the event. The day of the event club members volunteer their time to get horses ready, lead trail rides and pony rides, barbecue, face paint, babysit and socialize with our heroes. This event takes our entire club's team effort...and the smiles on our heroes' faces are worth it!
